The goal of the LA Promise Fund is to support students growing up in areas with high poverty rates in receiving an excellent education. The organization transforms public schools with perpetually low performance rates, opens new schools, and enacts programs that uses schools as centers of community activities that provide support services for students and families. The LA Promise Fund aims to poise high school graduates to enter college or start a career.
The South Los Angeles Transit Empowerment Zone (SLATE-Z) was founded in 2014 and is composed of 54 organization partnerships with a common goal of revitalizing South Los Angeles by moving residents to economic opportunities. SLATE-Z serves residents in parts of Vernon Central, South Park, Florence Exposition Park, Vermont Square, Leimert Park, and Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw.
